Heavy downpours and flash floods are increasingly common, with many regions across the country experiencing flooding. Here are some tips for what to do before, during, and after a flood for your NWOW units:
BEFORE:
Place the e-bike in a dry, well-ventilated spot.
Before moisture can result in short circuits, open the compartment and use a dry microfiber cloth to clean all electrical ports of dust and scale.
To stop water from collecting in open spaces, inspect and tighten the nuts and bolts on the wheels, saddle, handlebar stem, and floorboard panels.
Regularly clean and inspect your drum/disc systems and brake pads. Because wet conditions necessitate much longer braking distances, make sure the brake engages smoothly with minimal lever force.
Every week, check the tire pressure. To avoid severe hydroplaning on slick Philippine roads, replace tires right away if the tread depth is low.
DURING:
When it comes to driving, stay away from areas that are flooded. Water can sweep the car away or destroy your unit.
After passing through shallow puddles, test your brakes.
Check your wipers frequently for tears, cracks, or worn-out rubber blades to preserve visibility. At least once a year, and even more frequently if they exhibit wear, replace them.
After a wet ride, give your e-bike at least 30 to 60 minutes to cool down. Before plugging it in, make sure the car body and charging port are completely dry.
To protect your electrical converter from unstable power grids and voltage surges, unplug your NWOW charger from home outlets during strong lightning strikes.
Lower your maximum speed and steer clear of abrupt turns or throttle inputs. For optimal visibility, turn on low-beam headlights and brake gradually and early.
AFTER:
If your unit is caught in a flash flood, do not turn it on. Clean the mud away gently with soap and water, then leave the unit powered down in a shaded, well-ventilated area for several days. Inspect the harness, test the motor for grinding noises, and bring it to a NWOW Authorized Dealer if necessary.
Examine each wiring harness and connection terminal beneath the floorboard or seat to ensure that no moisture or debris remains.
Once the weather has settled, perform a battery calibration. Drain the power safely until the indicator reads low, then perform a full balance charge to refresh the voltage output.
To remove dirt particles from the brake rotors, flush them with clean water. Dry thoroughly, then apply specialized grease or lubricants to the chain and wheel bearings.
