Maintaining your NWOW electric vehicle (e-bike, e-trike, or e-quad) in best condition is significant for your safety and for the vehicle’s performance. One part that should never be overlooked is the brake fluid. This fluid plays an integral role in making sure your brakes work well every time you ride.

Why is brake fluid important?

Brake fluid is essential for a smooth and safe braking as it transfers pressure from the brake lever/pedal to the brakes, making them slow or stop the vehicle. Without clean and enough brake fluid, brakes may feel weak or slow to respond which can be very dangerous.

How to Check Your Brake Fluid

1. Park on a Level Surface

Turn off your NWOW EV and make sure it’s steady and placed on a flat surface.

2. Find the Brake Fluid Reservoir

Most brake fluid tanks are near the handlebars/combination switch (for bikes) or close to the brake system (for tricycles). Look for a small tank with a cap labeled  or signed with brake fluid.

3. Check the Fluid Level

Look at the side of the storage. There should be “MIN” and “MAX” marks. The fluid should be between these two lines. If it’s too low, it needs a refill.

4. Check the Fluid Color

Brake fluid should be clear or light yellow. If it looks dark or dirty, it’s time to replace it.

Checklist for Proper Brake Fluid Maintenance

• Check the fluid level every month

• Refill with the correct type of brake fluid (check your manual or ask the technician)

• Replace old or dirty brake fluid every 6 to 12 months

• Always close the cap tightly after checking

• Never mix different types of brake fluid

• Avoid spilling brake fluid on the paint – it can cause damage

Brake fluid may seem like a trivial thing, but it plays a significant role in safety. Taking a few minutes to check and maintain it can save you from undesirable events, accidents, and costly repairs. When in doubt or unsure, always consult your nearest NWOW Outlet for assistance.
